The Going Rate?

I have a delimma.

We have our first loose tooth and I have NO clue what the tooth fairy should leave.

The going rate when I was growing up 20+ yrs ago was a 50 cent piece.

What was your tooth fairy treasure when you were growing up?

What is the going rate now??

I had a friend suggest rolling up a dollar and tying it with a little ribbon. <-- I really like this idea, but didn't like the pictures that google provided - bad, very bad

For the first tooth, everyone in my family gave me money for her, so don't ask me...for each one now, she gets one dollar.

1st tooth, $5. Subsequent teeth $2. I know, inflation sucks.

We aren't there yet, but I think $1 per tooth is good! Exciting!

P.S. I was so touched by your email and kind words yesterday. I am just all over the place. You are so thoughtful to send me your phone number---how incredibly kind of you!

unfortunately I've found out it's not my thyroid. Which bums me out even more. Not sure what is next yet. But it's so good to k now you are in my corner!

hmmmm....I don't know, chubs never lost any teeth so i've never had to face this. Um, I, like you as a kid got a quarter or fifty cents. A dollar around our place was hard to come by, but the minimum wage was also three dollars and hour then....so um, I'd say a dollar sounds about right.

I like the little ribbon tied around it idea. It's that extra step, like a cherry on an already good sundae. :)

mmmmmmm...icecream! sorry, i have food add i think.

When I was growing up (I'm 31) my brothers and I only got a quarter! My daughter got money from everyone in the family for her first tooth, she ended up with around $20. Now it's one dollar per tooth, sometimes five if it's a big deal (like the one she lost in an apple at school and had to dig out of the trash!).

I think I got a dollar when I was younger. We gave my son $5 for the first...it was on Christmas (3 years ago) and now he gets $2. I know someone who gives their kid $10 per tooth...I was like "Seriously?" I think it is about the presentation...I like the ribbon idea.

I'm sure the TF has come and gone by now but we did $5 for the first tooth and $1 for each one after that.
